School leaders are relentless in their ambition to raise achievement - OFSTED 2014

Meet the Head

Martyn Owen

Thank you for your interest in Murray Park School. I would like to extend a warm welcome on behalf of staff, parents and pupils.

I am proud and privileged to lead a school that has been acknowledged as having a strong record of academic success, care and support for all of our pupils. We are a ‘good’ school (OFSTED 2014) that knows its students well and provides an education that is tailored to them as individuals. We believe that our size and ethos make us unique in the area - focusing on individual progress and supporting individuals to achieve and be happy.

I am proud of the challenging and inclusive ethos of our school. OFSTED saw a school that was securely ‘good’ in all areas and is still improving rapidly, with leaders that were having an ‘immense impact on the school’. We have done this through a rigorous focus on learning and feedback and taking account of the views of staff, parents and students.
We are proud of our academic track record and the broad range of activities and achievements in a variety of artistic, sporting, social, cultural and community settings.

As Head teacher, what I want for the children at Murray Park school is exactly what I would want for my own children; a school where they feel happy, secure and able to learn but where they also feel challenged to achieve the very best that they can.
I make no apologies for setting high standards in work, behaviour, attendance and dress. I believe in firm discipline - teachers need to be able to teach and pupils need to be able to learn without interruption. I also expect that pupils will wear the correct uniform, showing pride in their school.
I believe that school life is much wider than what goes on in the classroom. I am very proud of the relationships that young people have with each other and with staff at the school. Pupils feel valued and well supported here from the moment they step into the school. Murray Park is able to offer children a wide range of extra-curricular and community experiences which will further enrich their time at school.

Our annual parental surveys (2015) demonstrate that our parents have a strong faith in the work that we do and that they recognise the way in which we provide their children with a high degree of challenge and support.
I hope that this website gives you a distinct sense of our school; however, to really understand the school, it is important to see it in motion. I hope you will be able to attend our New Intake Evening or contact the school to arrange a visiting time. I look forward to meeting you personally and welcoming you to Murray Park School
